Candace Mixon is a Ph.D. Student at the University of North Carolina, in the Department of Religious Studies. She specializes in visual and material culture related to the ahl al-bayt, or the family of the Prophet Muhammad.  Thanks to the generous support of the American Institute of Iranian Studies and the Roshan Fellowship from UNC, Candace spent Summer 2014 in Iran and will use her resources and research obtained there to begin her dissertation project.  She will update this site to keep up to date with the projects that unfold from her research in Iran for teaching and academic purposes.
